Date: 2014-09-30 10:48 pm (UTC)LotR is my absolutely most-re-read book of all time... I stopped counting at my 15th go at it, and no matter how often I have re-read it since, I STILL find new intriguing details I've missed out on my previous reads. Sometimes small details like a certain word that just jumps out at me, sometimes descriptions I've never given much thought before, sometimes whole passages that I have read before but suddenly somehow "get" or completely understand for the first time...
I've always likened reading LotR to a journey down a river - you always start at the same point and you always arrive at the same destination, but the stream does take you on a completely different journey every single time - there are eddies that catch you, small side-streams you may or may not explore, sometimes the water's slower and you get stuck for a time or the flood carries you along for a time only to spit you out at a rock or creek you never really noticed before...
(And now you're very welcome to think of me as completely crazy ;) )
