Life, Love & Lemons - August 2019

Right, a few days late, but here's the next instalment of my monthly review! Yay!

Life

August turned out to be a rather busy month for me.
It started with a bang, it ended with enjoyable exhaustion, and had a lot of everything inbetween.

Overall, I tried to enjoy as much of the summer as I could while still getting a good amount of work done (student fees don't pay themselves, sadly). This basically meant that I had a quick dip in the pool as often as the weather allowed for it, and those swims usually bracketed (or were bracketed) by hitting the computer and getting shit done.

And now for the details:

Love

As I mentioned, the month started with a bang. Himself and I FINALLY made it to our local high ropes course. We have been speaking of doing that for years, but it took last year's birthday gift from us to his half-brother to finally make see us go there. Anyway.
So. Much. Fun!

(me - duh!)

(on some funny rope-swing-thingy)

(on the flying fox doing some fancy splits *lol*)

In case some of you haven't seen it - head over to my Instagram page, there are some videos in my Highlights.

To keep things in tradition with the last couple of months, I have been going to the climbing gym semi-regularly this months as well. Usually once per week, typically while Himself was teaching a class, getting some bouldering in while listening to podcasts. It's astonishing how much difference even that amount of bouldering makes. I, by now, am no longer exclusively stuck to the kiddy routes. Yay.

(decidedly NOT a kiddy route; unsurprisingly I haven't nailed that one still...)
(also: look at my shoulder muscles! not to be vain or anything, but daaaaamn girl!)

Again, head over to my Instagram for videos - this time, they're on the feed.

I did quite a lot of sports this month, actually. Not necessarily more than usual, but very definitely more outdoors than usual.

One day, I actually did go on a run. On a real track. (Again, Himself was teaching, so I made use of the other facilities besides the climbing gym for once...)

(biggest mistake: sitting down post run)

(the proof I actually did laps on a track *lol*)

If you want to see a video of the track I ran, Instagram Highlights are your friend.

Himself and I also decided to go to Vienna in order to buy something one day. On the hottest day of the month. By bike. (Okay, I super enjoyed it, and we helped ourselves to super yummy fries as a well-earned "snack", so...... Also, I knew that there was the pool at home waiting for our sweaty selves.)

(we also had a nice short break sitting next to the Danube)

Oh, yeah, and the month ended with me going on a 7km hike. On my own. At noon. On the second hottest day of the month. (Which, coincidentally, also was the last day of the month.)

And then, there was another highlight: I got a new coffee maker. Wooooo!

Other good things that happened included a LOT of podcast listening (including some surprise cameos - but you already knew that from my previous posts), the purchase of a new Scribbles that Matter notebook (in pink!) as my next Bullet Journal, a lot of really good food (including some super yummy cake as well as apricot dumplings - which are my all-time favourites!), some really masterful jam-making on my side, and WAY TOO LITTLE MONTH FOR ALL THE GOOD TIMES I'VE HAD!

But, as with any good thing, there were also a few
Lemons
to balance things out...

Most of you won't know about it, but a few months ago I started getting into yoga. And over the course of time, the thought that maybe I could actually have fun teaching yoga popped up more and more often. But, as is very usual for me, I bailed at the thought of having to do blocked teacher's training on weekends (you know, all of my phobias rearing their ugly heads, telling me that we can't do stuff like that). But then I did have the genius thought that the sports institute of my university not only offers a lot of great fitness classes for affordable prices, but they only have some teacher training programs. And - lo and behold - they actually added yoga teacher training to the list very recently. And their training is just three or four hours a piece, in other words an amount I can easily do without getting into full melt-down mode.

I was ecstatic.
For about ten seconds.

Until I saw two things - the fact that you need to prove that you have taken X amount of yoga lessons (which I don't) and the actual price.

Yeah. Well. I most definitely can't afford that at the moment. Even if I had had the required hours.

But maybe some other time, yes?!

And that's it for this month! Thanks for reading, guys!

Love all the great photos!

Good luck with the training at some point in the future!
