- I love LJ.
I really do. It's the first blog I kept writing for more than approximately tree months, and that's because LJ links me to the things I like. LJ provides me with the seemingly indefinite possibility of finding new fictions, new communities, new friends.
LJ is more than a simple personal weblog for me.

- I understand LJ's actions (as well as the actions of WoI) to a certain extent. I'm not happy the way they did it, but I can at least a little bit understand why.
Hell - I'm the first standing up for child-protection on the internet; I'm the first understanding actions against people who want to molest innocent little children.
Thing is - I don't get it why LJ did it the way they did. I always thought -and [profile] fandom_counts proves it- that a big part of the LJ-community is made up of fandom... and I always believed that LJ knew their customer base. But obviously they don't ... otherwise they should have known that "incest" as an interest in a fanfiction-community cannot be translated as "oh... another of that perverts molesting young kids" but as "hey, I'd never touch my brother/sister/cousin but I love Fred'n'George touch".

- Which leads me to another point: I know how hard it is to live a life that contained at some stage rape/molesting/sexual abuse. Nevertheless I read and write fictions containing these topics. Sometimes because it simply happens that at some stage of the story a character is abused or anything related to that, sometimes because I actively search for those fics.
Yes, it may sound not right - but sometimes those stories can be helpful in terms of coping. Sometimes those fics deliver new aspects of looking at the things happened, new strategies of dealing with what happened, or they simply deliver reason to talk about a certain topic.
At least from my point of view - stories containing those topics can be very important, not just entertainment wise.

- Like most people on earth I really don't like paedophiles. Like most people I hate them. Like most people I'm very happy if the police or whoever smokes out another group of them.
Nevertheless - I also read those fictions. Well not the peadophilic part... but I do read fictions containing consensual sex of a person of age and a minor. It simply depends on the age gap.
I don't see any problem in reading about a 17year old having a relationship with somebody around 20. Why should I? That's reality guys!
I don't see any problem in reading about two minors having a relationship. That's also reality.
And depending on the story I don't see any problem in reading stories about a 17year old and a ... well... a Snape :) Sue me?! Wait a second... let me explain something.
First I can't stress the consensual part enough. And second - I know some people that started their relationship when she was 17 and he 37. They married when she was 18, got their first child the same year. Today they are married more than 25 years, love each other, are more than happy with their decision and mind you - they are the most cute that-long-married couple I have ever seen... still holding hands, kissing, cuddling.
So I know that relationships like that can be the perfect thing to do. If its consensual. If both of them have the same feelings... if time works for them.

- And also - like most people on earth I'd never, never, never spend a single thought on having a sexual relationship with my brother. I love him. Oh yes, I do. Hell, he's my little brother. OF COURSE I love him! But simply and straight in a sisterly-way...not sexual at all.
Anyhow I love reading "Twincest". Yes, I do.
Fred and George together is simply perfect.
And no - I don't have any bad feelings at all reading those fics, since they are both male and the main problem with incest in my view is the fact that the offsprings of such relationships can be seriously handicapped.
So no need to worry there for me.

- and last, but not least some links and pleads:
* if you haven't joined [profile] fandom_counts yet, please do so now!

* [profile] kitsune13 has a list of Published Fiction Containing Illegal Sexual Activities which can be found here

* Ethan Zuckerman posted an article called "Six Apart casts "evanesco". Fanfic authors cast "expelliarmus"." which can be found here. An article I feel very comfortable with, because it gives me the feeling of being understood, even in our special "fandom-code".

- and finally: the news-page claims that about half of the suspended LJ's are back.
