Amruniel's Rec: A very nice and imaginative story that captured me from the beginning. It's perfectly sweet and sad at the same time and I really had to fight back tears during Snape's "funeral"...

Albus' idea and scheme is perfect... I love it to bits and I love the old meddling fool for this brilliant plan for his dear boy. And Minerva's "confession" of her personal history made me want to hit my head hard against the desk because it is so perfect and somehow even obvious, and I've never seen anything like this idea before (which is a very sad thing in my humble opinion - this history fits her so well!).

Most touching passage of the whole story:
"Minerva had followed, putting in a scarlet and gold tartan scarf. She wore a green and silver tartan scarf which she touched as she spoke. 'He gave me this scarf before a particularly heated match, in tartan so I couldn't complain about the fact it was Slytherin house colours, the sneaky lad. Anyway, it's time I returned the favour. Rest easy, lad. I know you're in good hands.' "

If you haven't read it by now - hurry on, it's really worth it!

Amruniel's Rec: I loved this story from the first sentence and loved it even more at the last. It's a sweet and charming read with lots of great sex. The plot is just perfect - the right amount of Malfoy scheming, a most enjoyable Kreacher, Hermione and especially her parents, and lots of perfect Severus and Harry (inter)action.

I particularly enjoyed Harry's constant worries about the "proper etiquette" for lovers, and Severus' reluctance to believe that "it" could be real and not just some side-effect of this and that.

To sum up this beautiful story I can only quote Severus and Harry: Perfect.

Amruniel's Rec: Although it's a very short story it gives you everything you want to know, you want to have in a sweet little Snarry-fic.

The young Harry is stunningly portrayed in all his innocence, but you can always see the man he's going to become in him. And Snape is simply perfect here. His reaction to the little intruder is priceless and the ending of the fic closes that circle wonderfully.

I'd have loved the story to be longer, but nevertheless it feels absolutely right and perfect the way it is.

Amruniel's Rec: Quite some time ago I developed quite a kink for any Harry-Snake action, sex-wise, and I re-encountered this particular fascination of mine in this fic. Wonderful. :)

And even without it, this story is a dreamlike journey - sometimes sweet and pleasant, sometimes like the worst nightmare.
I loved the way the war left Harry receding into - well, what? Madness? Isolation? An alternative reality? And I loved the fact that the most unlikely person is trying to show him the way back. I like the idea of Snape -despite all that happens- being the one more anchored in reality, in life.

I'm usually not the person for open endings but here it is simply perfect. As is the title.

A passage that sent shivers down my spine, because it is so spot-on:

Ginny tucks her feet under Harry’s leg. “That’s right,” she says. “You can do whatever you want now.”

It’s one of the scariest things Harry’s ever heard.

He’s never had any real choice in his life. First he was a freak, and that was all he knew. Then he was the Chosen One, and his life was plotted for him by the whims of a madman, the machinations of an old wizard whom he loved anyway, and the crazed ramblings of an incense-high witch in a tower. But this thing called choice – he’s terrified he’s going to fuck it up. And it will be all his fault if he does because it was his choice. Ginny wiggles her toes under his thigh and grins at him. He can’t smile back because he can’t move. He’s frozen, paralyzed with choice.

Edit: note that this fic is f-locked, but if you ask nicely, I bet rinsbane will give you access to this wonderful piece of work :)

Amruniel's Rec: This is a perfect story of war and its dehumanisation, of victory and loss, of sacrifice and death, of innocent and choice. It's a story about humankind, a story so true in itself it took away my breath.
The author's writing seems so effortless, so natural, that reading comes like breathing. It is one of the rare occasions you completely lose yourself in the story, in the words and the images that are conjured.

And most of all this is the perfect Snape, the one we all fell for so many years ago, the one we'll love forever.
And Harry, he's simply as wonderful as he can be. He's the one we all have in mind, we all hope for.

It is a utterly beautiful, true story. Breathtaking. Magnificent.

And moving. Touching you deep down, hitting that very special place of understanding with sentences like those:

A part of him wanted to hurt Snape, draw blood, scar him even, while at the same time get down on his knees and thank him. For choosing to kill Neville, while sparing Ron.
Three years into the war and the weaker wizards and witches had been killed off. Now it was down to the people who mattered. If he’d been more honest with Snape, he’d have confessed to horrible bargains he made with himself every night before he went to sleep. At the next battle I promise to hex six Death Eaters. If I fail, you can have Seamus but not Hermione or Ron. If I only get five Death Eaters, then Ginny will be hurt, maybe blinded, but not killed, and Seamus still dies. He never knew who the “you” was. The one thing he did know was this was nonsense, even bordering on insanity, but he continued to make nonsensical bargains, more than willing to sacrifice a Neville for a Ron without batting an eyelid.

Amruniel's Rec: This is without a doubt one of the most heartbreaking fic's I've ever read. Not heartbreaking in a sad way, but a turmoil of emotions. The anxiety, the desperation, and later on the feeling of utter belonging, of being at home, of love and satisfaction that pours out of every word, of every line.
I had to fight back tears throughout the last pages because I just couldn't stand the thought of having to read those wonderful, breathtaking lines with a blurred vision. I had to see it. Clear. Undisturbed. I had to absorb every little nuance, every heartbeat.

I've never seen a fic like that before.
The pictures, that made it so much more real.
The stunning, wonderful, magical ideas.
Those books.
Those candles.

The emotions.
Hardly ever spelled out, but pouring out of every word.
Simply there.

And I loved the subtle changes of the characters. You are in the middle of the forming of their relationship without ever noticing it until it is there, and suddenly you see all that makes it so believable, so real. It's plausible, it's tangible, it's.... heartbreaking.

And then, there's Grimmauld Place... amazing, like nothing I've ever seen.

I love this story to bits.

Amruniel's Rec: This is one of my favorite Snarry plots. This special one. Because it's the rare version of an quite overused plot. But this way round I really enjoy it.
As delta's stories always are this is a perfectly well written story with her typical humor and those wonderful ideas of magic her stories always have (in this one it's the cupcakes that really got me).

And all through the story I had the slight feeling of knowing it. I simply can't remember if I have read this fic before or not. If I have - I must have loved it then too. It's so sweet!

Amruniel's Rec: Quite some times ago I developed a serious kink for cross-dressing!Severus - most of all I LOVE green stockings and corsages... and this story features both of them!!!!!

That aside it is a wonderful story full of original magic ideas, most of all I loved the red line at Knockturn Alley which is simply perfect and those little details like logs walking into the fire all by themselves that are a tribute to the wonderful magical world we all love so much.

Some things I guessed right from the beginning, others were a complete mystery until their revelation - which makes it a perfectly balanced story of knowledge, ideas and surprises.

A wonderfully entertaining story!

Amruniel's Rec: Harry saved England many times - but this time it's not only wizarding Britain he saved, but literally England. I absolutely loved the connection of the wizarding and the muggle world and most of all I enjoyed the King, his brother and -of course- Lord King's Cross (wonderful, fantastic idea!)
And I simply couldn't help myself falling in love with Soleil. Isn't she the sweetest gril EVER? *throws hearts*

This is a very special fic, stunning ideas and with a interesting and very unique structure. It is very unusual and very very good.

A sentence that rendered me into helpless laughter because it is SO Harry:

Amruniel's Rec: It is not the best fic ever. Quite apart from that. It's quite a bit too rushed and I can't seem to understand why this relationship comes to life. Never the less it's quite a good read and a very nice -if not in my opinion fully developed- story. (And oh boy - I really don't like it if parts of the human anatomy are referred to as "hole")

But the main reason I recced this story here - because I'm deeply in love with Dr. House of "House M.D" and the wonderful Snape in this story is just his magical equivalent. It's perfect and I really cracked up some times trying to picture Hugh Laurie as Snape and Snape/Alan Rickman as Dr. House. Oh - they'd really LOVE each other to death *snickers*

Amruniel's Rec: Harry's search for the Horcruxes leave him nearly dead and there is only one person who can try to keep him alive - even though he failed the last time someone asked the same of him. And there is no cure, there's only a way to keep him going... there's not much hope and things really get worse from there.
But it's such a perfect story, so intense, terrible and at the same time wonderful.

Snape is perfect here... and Eileen really made me love her to bits.

It's a very emotional story, highly creative and absolutely stunning.
If the author's warnings scare you - give it a try never the less. It's really worth it!
And the ending, it's simply perfect...

Amruniel's Rec: I've still tears in my eyes while writing this. The whole story has been such an enormous rollercoaster ride of emotions that took my breath away more times than I can remember and still holds me captured in it's magical spell.
I never imagined I would be one for Lily/Snape fics but since this is one of the most touching stories I've ever read, I think I should do some serious revision's of my own opinions.
This whole story is so perfect I can't seem to get it out of my mind. What the curse does to Snape is simply heartbreaking and so beautiful at the same time, I can't describe it.
This fiction touched me deep down in my soul and thinking about it, I can still feel the breath catching in my throat, the tears welling up again.

The most touching part for me (and probably the most healing...):
He keeps his wand out and conjures a single white lily, just as beautiful as Harry's had been, and catches it in his hand.
"I thought you said she hated lilies."
"She did." Severus reaches over the bountiful bouquet now lying in the snow and places the single white lily on the 'James Potter' side of the headstone. "But he didn't."

Go and read it... it's... it's a very special gemstone in the flood of HP-fanfiction out there...

It is a very unique story with beautiful details of magical paintings and it is so bloody surreal, it creeps me to death. And the ending... the implications it leaves you with...
I have never seen a fiction like that. I'm bewitched... utterly taken.

Amruniel's Rec: While reading the first chapter I encountered a few lines that really crashed all the fluency of reading and my joy in the story. Usually if something like that happens I close the fic and start another one. No point in bothering with the style of writing when it affects my pleasure while reading.
But since I really enjoyed the way the fic was written before I decided to give it a second try and read on to the end of the first chapter.
I think there's no point in mentioning that I've been really taken by the story by then. I couldn't stop reading and I enjoyed every word. Apart of those few lines in the first chapter it's a brilliantly written fiction with wonderful content and a perfect storyline.
The details of this story are wonderful (compare Albus' and Snape's portrait for example) and all the hints we're given throughout the story and all the loose ends are tied up at the end.
It's really worth a read. AND it's wonderfully long (+90k). AND there's a lot of great, passionate sex. AND it had me crying throughout most of the last 10 or 15 pages. So... go, read! It's really great stuff!

Amruniel's Rec: Well... there's a lot in this fic I didn't like or things that were not as elaborated as necessary. First of all there's a big fat lot of ships and hey... even those not mentioned are gay. I'm really a fan of SLASH, but really... do you know ANY family containing a gay mother, a gay father, and a gay son? Really... that's a little bit too much.AND they're all in happy relationships *snort*
Things that were not as detailed as I would have liked them are for one part the Parseltongue that obviously runs in the family in this fic and those stones of the Founders...

BUT... I really enjoyed the story a lot. It was great fun to read of those different generations of Gryffindors and Slytherins and all the way through I wondered where and if their storylines would cross. And yeah - it is all solved to my very own liking. I usually don't read Founderfics but the Godric/Salazar section of this fic really made me want more... so maybe there comes a time where you can find Founderfic-rec's here too :)
All in all it's a very special story that holds your attention throughout the whole plotlines and different centuries and... yeah, there's a lot of sex. A lot of really good, hot sex. So, enjoy!

Amruniel's rec: I have to admit it's not one of those stories you leave totally satisfied. There are too many questions open, too many things that aren't explained in detail, that are just hinted and never really solved. But if you read the author's comment you can partially understand why things are the way they are. I personally would have loved more details, more background information, but... what is, is.

And if even all those missing informations are not enough to make me close the file and read something else it's really worth to stick to the story until the end.
The get-together of Snape and Harry is a wonderful bitter-sweet experience which ends in way that unleashes your imagination. All or nothing. Everything is possible.
And still it makes you feel good at the end.
I really enjoyed the story despite all it's minor faults and can only reccomend it to you.

Summary: Harry discovers a secret in his Potions text and a friend in the Half-Blood Prince.

Amruniel's rec: I knew it, you knew it, even Hermione knew it. Canon!Harry was about the only bloody person on earth who didn't know it - he had a hell of a crush on his Prince in 6th year.
This wonderful fiction starts where Rowling let us down - Harry discovers a way to communicate with the young Prince and finds out a lot... most of all is the identity of his worshiped book-owner revealed. I really loved Harrys reaction towards this new insight and most of all his behaviour around the book.
And since this is a Snarry fic ... Harry's view of Snape changes quite a lot. I personally found the way they work out things and solve their differences a bit too easy, too quick, but never the less it's a wonderful piece of reading and very much worth every minute you spend on it.
I particularly loved Snape in this fic. For the first time in all my years as a devoted Snape-fiction addict I read a Snape who didn't use his highly educated and very powerfully eloquent way of speaking. Mind you he still has his witty tongue and a very more than average vocabulary but he restores to a similar use of language as the young Prince had when being alone with Harry. It might be that this is one of the reasons that Harry had the possibility of falling in love with the adult Snape because he is in some way still quite alike his younger version Harry got to know in all those comments in his potions book. Snape feels a lot closer to the Prince in how he acts around Harry and I found this tremendously charming. Wonderful story that had me on the verge of tears a few times.

I especially loved Harry in this wonderful story - he's so mature, so believable. Snape's perfect too... of course. As he always is :)
Throughout the whole story my breath kept catching over and over... and the end. It's simply perfect to me.
