In the films: Merry



There's many reasons, but in the end, he's the one who made me laugh the most and while he seems to be the clown of the fellowship he's also the hobbit who understands what's at stake quickest most of the time.


In the books: Fatty Bolger

Because he had the good sense to stay at home in the Shire ;)
