Post-NaNoWriMo Update - January 15, 2017

Total Words Written: 111.079

I somehow managed to reach today's word goal of measly 887 words (actually, I surpassed it by a whopping two words ;) ) despite having a raging headache.
But I promised myself to write today/tonight, so I did.

I originally had planned to catch up on all comments and posts as well, but quite frankly, I'm better off going to bed now (we all are...)

I'll try to carve out some time to do that tomorrow (and possibly write a bit more)... Hugs to all of you lovelies out there!

And a very special hug and very happy belated birthday wishes to the wonderful ranmaru_fics!!!

Speaking of birthdays... what is it with Orlando and everybody wearing clothes with his face on them at his birthday bash?! (Not that I am in any way opposed to seeing him half-dressed in a onesie, mind you.............)

I went online and found the photos AND the cake! HAHA! Loved it. Someone once told me they hated fics where Orlando got called Lando because everyone knew his nickname was Orli and Lando was just stupid. (I have used Lando in several of my fics.)

And there's the cake saying Happy Birthday Lando!

Is it bad that I'm really happy about that? *g*

As for Lando... I prefer it to Orli, actually. Yes, everybody knows he was called Orli during Rings (and probably afterwards), but I always felt he grew out of this name.
In my fic I actually have Vig use Lando, while Eric calls him Orli (my reasoning being that E -in my fic- has known him since he started uni, in other words from an age on where Orli still fit, while V. got to know him roughly ten years later, so at a more mature stage of life)

That confirms it - I'm going to keep both nicknames and the reasoning ;)

(On a related note: any ideas which pet-name/nickname Orlando could use for Vig? I'm soooo torn and quite frankly not happy with any of my current choices (I've tried "honey", "darling", and am debating something like "sweetheart" - and neither of them really make me go "yeah, that's the one!") Are there any British ones I'm overlooking? Help?!)

I've used 'Love' and 'Lover'

If it's RPS and not AU, 'Old Man' is pretty standard for Viggo as is 'Filthy Human' of course, but in AU anything goes.

In my experience 'pet-names' tend to evolve.

In Open Aperture, Viggo uses Little Elf because Orlando dressed as Elf at Christmas, and in Breakdown Viggo used 'Little Waif' because that's what Orlando reminded of him when they met. If this is the climbing story then depending on Viggo's role in the story, could his nickname arise from that?

Maybe he climbs under overhangs like Spiderman, (I have a photo of Son#1 climbing along under a a completely flat horizontal surface so I know it can be done!) So Orlando calls Viggo 'Mr Spiderman' which gets amended to 'Super Spidey'. Obviously that might not fit the story at all, I'm just trying to show how a pet name might evolve in those circumstances.

Love/Lover are taken already :) (Viggo claimed them for him, or at least claimed "Love", and "lover" is currently used more as a descriptive term than a pet-name, but I figured I couldn't have Lando call Vig "Lover" since these names are too similar to easily distinguish them in a conversation for example.)

I really like the idea of Spidey/Spiderman :) I'll have to see if I can come up with a scene that earns Vig the name (for a climbing fic there's surprisingly little climbing going on at the moment *sighs* something that really needs to change soon if I EVER want to introduce my "real" plot *rolls eyes at herself*)

Hm... I'll have to think about what to use in the meantime... Thanks for your help, dear!
